ROADSIDE ATTRACTIONS: A Solo Exhibit by April Seelbach

Artist Statement:

"Roadside Attractions was born out of a spontaneous decision influenced by an early twenties heartbreak. I was offered a ride in a van to travel across the country with someone I barely knew and reluctantly agreed. That choice altered my path as an artist forever. I eventually sold everything in my apartment, bought my very own van, and went miles out of my comfort zone to explore our beautiful country. I became addicted to life on the road, spending hours driving around Uncle, my sea foam colored Chevy Astro. I accumulated so many photos that I began making small handmade prints to sell at local markets. I discovered a printer that could professionally translate my images to large scale works and from there I started experimenting with adding paint. 60s and 70s patterns, style, and color schemes are a huge inspiration for me and it just made sense to incorporate those themes in my artwork. Roadside Attractions is my personal road trip nostalgia coupled with groovy enthusiasm. If it were not for a set of calculated events and people entering my life, this collection may have never existed."
